Salvation When Does it Take Place Church Write The Bible?

Salvation When Does it Take Place? cart before the horse

This article first published D04 M02 2023

[pw = pagan word]

Many would say salvation takes place immediately when a believer makes a declaration, a confession or what they commonly refer to as a "sinner's prayer".

But is that even scriptural? Perhaps they will refer to the following verse to justify their claim.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Master Yahushua (pw Lord Jesus), and shalt believe in thine heart that Elohim (pw God) hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Now this certainly would seem a legitimate claim as many have been led to believe in mainstream Christianity. But we will show you the great deception here. Let us first turn to the words of Yahushua himself whom the "confessor" and "believer" in Romans has just called "Master" (pw Lord). Thus it is required that that same "confessor" and "believer"  submit to their Master's  very words.

Mat 24:13  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

It becomes clear that Yahushua says salvation occurs or is determined at the end. He refers to the persecution of those who are his disciples ie. those who have made this confession in Romans making him the Master. They need to endure the persecution unto the end. It is an obvious conclusion then that if they do not endure to the end they do not get saved. Salvation is not determined how one begins in their journey, that is with an alleged confession as in Romans 10:9, but in how one ends.

So, that could be the end to this article, namely that salvation occurs at the end for a true believer. But then we still need to reconcile an apparent contradiction.

Was the Apostle Shaul a liar? No! The problem is with the translation into Greek and then English. The word for "saved" in Greek here has several meanings.

Strong's Greek : G4982
σώζω
From a primary word σῶς sōs̄ (contraction for the obsolete σάος saos, “safe”); to save, that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

Now I will first show you an example of how the translators have clearly opted for the wrong choice of word in another statement made by Yahushua in Luke.

KJV straight:

Luk 18:42  And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

Now we already know "Jesus" and "faith" are corrupted words which should be Yahushua and "moral conviction". But what about "saved". It is clear that the context here is healing thus the word is not "saved" but should be "healed" or "made whole". One could argue that Yahushua knew the man's beginning and end and that he would be saved and thus "saved" is the right word. That might be true since we certainly see the man's beginning towards salvation in the next verse

Luk 18:43  And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, magnifying (pw glorifying) Elohim (pw God): and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto Elohim (pw God).

However we do not see any sinner's prayer, the so-called formula promoted by Christians. Thus how can the word "salvation" be used here if that argument is applied. It is the same Greek word used in Romans 10:9.

So, let's now see if I am making things up here when it comes to Apostle Shaul and Romans 10:9:

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Master Yahushua (pw Lord Jesus), and shalt believe in thine heart that Elohim (pw God) hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

So, as we saw the Greek has roughly two options. Should the word here be "saved (delivered)" or should it be "made whole (healed)". Well, thankfully Apostle Shaul leaves us with no doubt. In the next verse he clearly explains what is happening in this process of true believing and confessing towards salvation.

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto (towards)[G1519] salvation [G4991].

G4991
σωτηρία
sōtēria
so-tay-ree'-ah
Feminine of a derivative of G4990 as (properly abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally): - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.
Total KJV occurrences: 45

G1519
εἰς
eis
ice
A primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases.: - [abundant-] ly, against, among, as, at, [back-] ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for [intent, purpose], fore, + forth, in (among, at unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-) on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore (-unto), throughout, till, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-) until (-to), . . . ward, [where-] fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literallyor figuratively.

It is clear that salvation is not immediate but a process towards salvation which is only confirmed by endurance to the end as Yahushua had said. It is a journey, a process not an immediate intellectual ascension.

Thus Shaul's word in verse 9 must be "healed (made whole)" which takes place first in the process towards salvation which is confirmed at the end.

Thus Romans 10:9 should read :

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Master Yahushua (pw Lord Jesus), and shalt believe in thine heart that Elohim (pw God) hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be healed (made whole) [G4982].

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto (towards)[ G519] righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto(towards) [G1519] salvation [G4991].

Notice this word "towards" - this is an action of approaching, walking toward an endpoint. Now what needs healing first in the process towards this endpoint which is salvation? Yahushua our Master tells us:

Mat 13:15  For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal [G2390] them. KJV

In the ESV it is translated as

Mat 13:15  For this people's heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’

In this case there is no option other than "healing (being made whole)". The word "saved" or "salvation" is out of the picture here since the Greek word does not give an option for the word "salvation"

G2390
ἰάομαι

Middle voice of apparently a primary verb; to cure (literally or figuratively): - heal, make whole.

So, the spiritual eyes, ears and heart need healing first for understanding, then conversion and healing. Yahushua has not even gotten to the topic of salvation in this process he is explaining since that is the final stage. He is discussing the first stage.

Does Apostle Shaul confer? Of course! This next famous verse, often used by the "faith alone" pundits  of Martin Luther (see Faith Alone? ) , will now be presented in what we submit as the proper translation but first let's look at how the KJV translated it.

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. KJV

And now with our usual corrections for the other pagan words.

Eph 2:8  For by chesed/favor (pw grace) are ye saved [G4982] through moral conviction(pw faith); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Elohim (pw God):
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Yahushua HaMashiach (pw Christ Jesus) unto* (towards) [G1909] good works, which Elohim (pw God) hath before ordained that we should walk in them

Again we see the words *"unto" or "towards" used. That infers the process of walking towards the endpoint of salvation. The walking being the endurance Yahushua spoke of.

G1909
ἐπί
A primary preposition properly meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution [with the genitive case], that is, over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the dative case) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.: - about (the times), above, after, against, among, as long as (touching), at, beside, X have charge of, (be-, [where-]) fore, in (a place, as much as, the time of, -to), (because) of, (up-) on (behalf of) over, (by, for) the space of, through (-out), (un-) to (-ward), with. In compounds it retains essentially the same import, at, upon, etc. (literally or figuratively).

And again we see the two options from the same Greek word  G4982 used in Romans 10:9

Eph 2:8  For by chesed/ favor (pw grace) are ye [saved (delivered) OR healed (made whole) ] [G4982] through moral conviction (pw faith); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Elohim (pw God):

Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Yahushua HaMashiach (pw Christ Jesus) unto (towards) [G1909] good works, which Elohim (pw God) hath before ordained that we should walk in them

Is Shaul speaking of salvation or healing (being made whole) here? The context is that Gentiles are accepted through moral conviction (pw faith), circumcision of the heart versus physical circumcision which the Judaisers were relying on solely while not necessarily walking in the good works of righteousness (Torah). So, is healing (being made whole) of the heart, eyes and ears being spoken of here? Of course. The gift here is healing of the broken sinful fallen man. It is not salvation that is being discussed here. It is circumcision of the heart which then begins the walk to salvation. How can a sick (gross / dull) heart even have moral conviction (pw faith) in the first place unless it is first healed?

Whenever Yahushua moved to physically heal it was a gift, not earned. Likewise the gift to heal the sick heart,  eyes ears. It was not earned and no one could boast about it but give praise to only Yahuah and his Son for this healing.

Let me connect this to what Yahushua said:

Joh 7:23  If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit (way) whole [G5199] on the sabbath day?
Joh 7:24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

This refers to spiritual eyes versus physical eyes, those healed eyes which seek after righteousness

In this case there is no doubt as to the word Yahushua uses and the word is not "saved" here. It is "healed (made whole)" in every way.

G5199
ὑγιής
From the base of G837; healthy, that is, well (in body); figuratively true (in doctrine): - sound, whole.

This word "whole" is best described in Hebrew as

H7495
רָפָה    רָפָא
râphâ'    râphâh
raw-faw', raw-faw'
A primitive root; properly to mend (by stitching), that is, (figuratively) to cure: - cure, (cause to) heal, physician, repair, X thoroughly, make whole. See H7503.
Total KJV occurrences: 67

So, this is prior to Yahushua going to the torture stake. What about after? Some claim things changed. Not so. Kipha (Peter) confirms the same thing:

1Pe 2:24  Who his own self bare our torah transgressions (pw sins) in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to Torah transgressions (pw sins) , should live unto (towards)  righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed [G2390]*

*Mat 13:15 ....understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal [G2390] them.

The healing first which then leads to living towards righteousness ( a process towards salvation). The healing process results in understanding one's own fallen state versus the state of righteousness that Yahuah requires.

Notice the healing by Yahushua took place and then the living-towards-righteousness journey begins. Again no salvation is mentioned here. This is the beginning process towards salvation only confirmed at the end of a true enduring believer as Yahushua said.

Mat 9:12  ...he [Yahushua] said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
Mat 9:13  But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have chesed / kindness (pw mercy), and not offering (pw sacrifice): for I am not come to call the righteous, but torah transgressors (pw sinners) to repentance

Healing is more important than offering (sacrifice). Those who would not let Yahushua heal their sick hearts before he died and rose would likely not accept it after he even offered his own blood either. Yahushua, first and foremost describes the process of the spiritually sick (sinner) being made spiritually whole by the healer (spritiual physician- Yahushua). This enables him to be a vessel of honour to be used by Yahuah and this is the journey towards salvation.

Healing is clearly a metaphor for repentance by the "sick of heart" of the Torah transgressor and then walking towards righteousness as he is called by Yahushua.

Now how often have you heard a strange declaration from mainstream Christian circles? You will hear these so-called believers who have apparently said a sinner's prayer saying, this has immediately assured them of salvation. But where is such a thing in scripture? In fact there is a big "if" mentioned by Shaul before any salvation is mentioned. There is a big condition following the healing and workmanship of the new creation or vessel for the Master's use in the process towards salvation. What is that? It  is a purifying of self (v 21).

2Ti 2:19  Nevertheless the foundation of Elohim (pw God) standeth sure, having this seal, Yahuah (pw The Lord) knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Mashiach (pw Christ) depart from iniquity [TORAHLESSNESS].
2Ti 2:20  But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2Ti 2:21  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, purified (pw sanctified), and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2Ti 2:22  Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, moral conviction (pw faith), love/ benevolence (pw charity), shalom (pw peace), with them that call on Yahuah (pw the Lord) out of a pure heart [ A HEART THAT HAS BEEN HEALED/MADE WHOLE FIRST].

Now remember how Yahushua said that understanding was needed and that went hand in hand with his gift of healing being accepted? Not his gift of salvation. Okay, let me refresh your memory.

Mat 13:15  For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal [G2390] them.

Mat 9:13...learn what that meaneth, I will have chesed / kindness (pw mercy), and not offering (pw sacrifice): for I am not come to call the righteous, but torah transgressors (pw sinners) to repentance (CHANGED HEART)

Is this not what was prophesised by the prophets:

Eze 11:19  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Eze 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Is this not what was recognised by Apostle Shaul and preached:

Heb 8:10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Yahuah (pw the Lord); I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a Elohim (pw God), and they shall be to me a people:

Heb 10:16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith Yahuah (pw the Lord), I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

Yahushua did not put the cart before the horse. He emphasised understanding and spiritual healing of the heart.

Understanding is after all spiritual. One can quote Matt 5:17-20 and if a person has not received the healing of the heart by Yahushua they will simply not understand what Yahushua is saying here in plain words. Their heart is sick and dull. It will go in one ear and out the other.

Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law [TORAH] or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Mat 5:18  For truly, I say to you, until shamayim (pw heaven) and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law [TORAH] until all is accomplished. Mat 5:19  Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven), but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of shamayim. Mat 5:20  For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven).

This healing and understanding he emphasised was over and above and preceding any offering of salvation. He emphasises healing and changing of the heart and then the writing of his Father's Torah upon that heart as prophesised. He did not emphasise or teach an immediate salvation which does away with Torah neither did Shaul. Why have you allowed yourself to be lied to? The way is not broad that leads to salvation but narrow and few there be that find it and this is why. It is because they are taught that a sinner's prayer offers and assures them immediate salvation. This is an outright lie of satan!

To recap

Eph 2:8  For by chesed/ favor (pw grace) are ye HEALED [G4982] through moral conviction/ emunah (pw faith); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Elohim (pw God):
Eph 2:9  Not of works [eg circumcision of the flesh but of the heart], lest any man should boast [like a Judaiser].
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Yahushua HaMashiach (pw Christ Jesus) unto (towards) [G1909] good works, which Elohim (pw God) hath before ordained that we should walk in them [Torah commands].

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Master Yahushua (pw Lord Jesus), and shalt believe in thine HEART that Elohim (pw God) hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be HEALED (EVERY WAY MADE WHOLE).
Rom 10:10  For with the heart [CIRCUMCISED HEART, FREE GIFT OF HEALING] man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto (towards)[G1519] salvation [G4991].

Shaul says that our healing towards righteousness is a free gift which makes us a new creation (every way whole). It makes us able to walk after the "good works ordained". This phrase speaks directly to the Torah, the ordained Word.

1Jn 2:7  Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning (ordained word, torah). The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

Now we have spoken of the process towards an endpoint. Scripture makes it very clear it is not a once off action at the start. It is a present continuous process to the end.

1 Cor1:18 The message of the stake / stauros (pw cross) is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of Elohim (pw God).

What is this endpoint always? Some might be surprised when we quote the following verse to answer this question:

Rom 10:4  For Mashiach (pw Christ) is the end (telos) of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Many have said this means Mashiach has brought an end to the law. On the contrary Yahushua is *"telos",   the endpoint aimed at as our limit (goal)

G5056
τέλος
telos
tel'-os
From a primary word τέλλω tellō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit;), that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid): - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

Yahushua is that WORD made flesh. Hence we walk as Yahushua walked, he is our example and we have been moulded by Yahuah the potter, given the mind of Mashiach.

Israel did not receive salvation by mere intellectual ascension simply because they were called Israel. No, on the contrary they were destroyed because they refused to be healed they refused to be made whole.  Again this word "whole" is best described in Hebrew as râphâ : cure, (cause to) heal, physician, repair, X thoroughly, make whole.

We see this word used where Yahuah is prophesising through Jeremiah to backslidden Israel whose heart is so sick it cannot be made whole and thus many are destroyed.

Jer 19:11  And shalt say unto them, Thus saith Yahuah (the LORD) of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

They refused to accept Yahuah Rapha as their healer that can mend, repair, cure a sick heart. Now today many refuse to accept Yahushua who is their healer through "his stripes". Instead they base this verse on fake miracle healing crusades where the focus is on physical healing rather than spiritual.

What did Yahushua emphasise? Was it physical healing or spiritual healing here, what is the greater miracle?:

Joh 5:8  Yahushua (pw Jesus) saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

Joh 5:14  Afterward Yahushua (pw Jesus) findeth him in the haykal (pw temple), and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: transgress torah (pw sin) no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

What is this "worse thing"? A sick heart that trangresses torah and thus:

LOSING SALVATION AT THE END

Is it not interesting that mainstream Christianity often calls their congregation, or the pagan word they use, their "church",  as some spiritual hospital, a place full of broken, sick people that "Jesus" loves.

At the same time these people claim they have already received salvation. Well, that is not what scripture teaches. It is directly converse to scripture. First comes spiritual healing of the heart and eyes then the walk towards salvation by walking in the way of righteousness which is Torah, walking as Yahushua walked and enduring to the end. It involves purifying oneself not remaining in intensive care in a spritual hospital being a spiritually comatosed apostate!

Apostle Shaul was against the very idea of an immediate salvation idea. He was angry with the Judaisers who focussed on what they alleged gave them immediate salvation through physical circumcision and being sons of Ambraham regardless of the fact that their hearts were not circumcised (made whole) to walk in righteousness and keep the commandments. They boasted in their own circumcision of the flesh versus the free gift of healing from Yahuah and his Son to walk in Torah obedience. Some have recognised Shaul's anger being expressed here as a crude joke.  Perhaps they should cut themselves off from Israel altogether by castrating themselves (a Torah trangression in itself) and be done with it seeing they do not want to be made whole in the heart and obey all of Torah as commanded. They want to focus on assured salvation by mere circumcision of the flesh. They believe their salvation ocurred on the 8th day while they were yet babes. Sounds familiar? Yes, the modern day church believes such a thing and even connects an 8th day invention to justify Rome's SUNday worship. (for more see: 8th Day?) . Mainstream Christianity is not so far from the Judaisers of the day after all.

Gal 5:12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!

They thought they had already arrived. This is no different to the modern Christians who believe they are already saved by a mere instant sinner's prayer. They have arrived already, but already dead, spiritually that is, without salvation.

A prime example of this is the Enduring Widow versus the Apostate Widow or as I like to call it the Walking Dead Widow.

1 Ti 5:5 She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her expectation (pw hope) on Elohim (pw God) and continues in supplications and prayers night and day, 1Ti 5:6  but she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives.

If the congregation is so lost and spiritually dead to her bridegroom (a spiritual widow) she is far from being saved. If she cannot even endure to hear the Torah which is the love of Yahuah how will she endure the persecution that comes from keeping it as Yahushua did.

Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of torah transgressions (pw sin) unto death, or of obedience unto (towards) righteousness?

Dear saints let us not grow wary in the walk. Let us endure to the end.

Php 2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Note Shaul is speaking to a congregation that has been obeying Yahuah's commands. This is hardly the standard of modern day Christianity which unashamedly rejects Yahuah's commands while claiming they are saved. Yet here Shaul is still concerned that his congregation/s who have been obedient still CONTINUE to reverently reach salvation at the end.

Yahushua's revelation to John

Rev 2:26  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: [ie will be saved]

Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments [TORAH] of Elohim (pw God), and the emunah / moral conviction (pw faith) of Yahushua (pw Jesus).

Yes, putting the cart before the horse is certainly a brain teaser that could result in surprising consequences - being unsaved at the end of the journey.
