Elymas and Paul

A Youtube comment sent to us:

"Paul said he was chief sinner. Lol. We are born in sin, and die in sin. If you think that you do not sin. You are lost."

This is a feeble attempt to make Shaul appear to be  bragging about being a chief sinner [like Satan] after he has been justified by the savior. Talk about perverted doctrine. No wonder some teach the misguided doctrine that Paul was a servant of Satan (a chief sinner).  There is quite a following of this cult because of this twisting of Paul's words.

No! You need to get your perverted minds out of Babylon.  This is the typical perversion of Apostle Shaul's (Paul's) teaching which Kipha (Peter) warned about.

Let's look at the verse :

1Ti 1:15  This is a trustworthy (pw faithful) saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Yahushua the Mashiach (pw Christ Jesus) came into the world to save torah transgressors (pw sinners); of whom I am chief.

It should have been translated :

...of whom I have been / was chief

Greek Strong's Concordance presents the word "am" as G1510 "eimi"  as having the following meanings : First person singular present indicative; a prolonged form of a primary and defective verb; I exist (used only when emphatic): - am, have been, X it is I, was.

The translation is wrong as the context is referring to the past tense as indicated by Paul's next verses.

1Ti 1:13  Who was BEFORE [past tense] a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but [BUT MEANS A CHANGE NOW] I obtained kindess (pw mercy), because I did [past tense ]it IGNORANTLY in unbelief.

(side Note : Of course "eimi" was also conveniently mistranslated as "I Am" to try and make Yahushua sound like the I Am that I am, that is, YAHUAH יהוה  Himself when he said "since Abraham was I "have been".[past tense ] not I am (present tense) amd certainly not  even "I Am". This is the blasphemous teaching of Rome.  (See Why Jesus is Not God / Why Yah'ushua is not Elohim )

Paul's chief sin was persecuting those who he thought were idolaters/blasphemers following Yahushua. And this was done on a large scale. Paul's sin was his  unbelief and ignorance in the idea that Yahuhsua was the Son of Elohim until his experience when he was thrown off his horse. The Sanhedrin is lawfully bound by the Torah to put to death idolaters. Shaul thought he was doing Elohim's work. But Shaul was not a sinner, someone who rejects Torah and habitually disobeys it.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess to you [Felix], that according to the Way [ANCIENT PATHS OF TORAH NOW THROUGH YAHUSHUA THE TORAH MADE FLESH], which they call a sect, I worship the Elohim (pw God) of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the Law [TORAH] and written in the Prophets,

When Yahushua said "forgive them for they know not what they do" he was prophetically referring to those like Paul who were ignorant at the time in persecuting the followers of Yahushua as well as himself.

So we need to stop making Paul sound like a fork-tongued Catholic hypocrite - He was not a transubstantiationist putting Yahushua to death over and over gain so that he can remain a chief sinner, sinning over and over again. No, that he is not!  (See: Transubstantiation - How Low Can You Go?

In this same portion of his letter he speaks of his future  after the knowledge of Yahushua the Mashiach and after his repentance:

1Ti 1:16  Howbeit for this cause I obtained chesed / kindness   (pw mercy), that in me first Yahushua Mashiach (pw Jesus Christ) might shew forth all longsuffering [with his ignorance], for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

The Pattern is: follow me as I follow Mashiach which is to OBEY. He  never ever preached the false religion of mainstream Christianity which is a filthy-rags religion. (See : Do You Really Want to be Called a Christian?  and  Filthy Rags or Righteous Fruit ?

This is Apostle Shaul / Paul speaking here so listen up and do not blaspheme as the Youtuber who sent us the comment at the beginning as if we're meant to continue to be sinners after we are justified by Mashiach.

Gal 2:17  But if, while we seek to be justified by Mashiach (pw Christ), we ourselves also are found TORAH TRANSGRESSORS (pw sinners), is therefore Mashiach  (pw Christ) the minister of sin? Elohim (pw God) forbid.

STOP BLASPHEMING YAHUAH AND HIS SON AS IF THEY ARE MINISTERS OF TORAH TRANSGRESSION RAISING UP CHIEF SINNERS. IS THAT YOUR PERVERSE IDEA OF YAHUAH?

If we are in Yahuah and his Son we obey his Torah because he has written his Torah upon our hearts as prophesied for the re-newed covenant that has now come.

 Heb 10:16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith YAHUAH (pw the Lord), I will put my laws [TORAH] into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

You do know the difference between a saint and a sinner right? You cannot be both at the same time (luke warm) but I see some want to go all the way and be a chief sinner! I love the way Christians always use Paul's letters and try to pervert his message just as Kipha / Peter warned.

2Pe 3:16  As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest [PERVERT], as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

2Pe 3:17  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked [LAWLESS / TORAHLESS], fall from your own stedfastness.

2Pe 3:18  But grow in chesed/ kindness (pw grace), and in the knowledge of our Master and and Saviour Yahushua HaMashiach

We cannot be calling Yahushua the Son of Elohim a liar and perverting Shaul to make him appear to overrule Yahushu.Yahushua says to Yahuchanon (John) :

Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim and the emunah/ moral conviction (pw faith) of Yahushua (pw Jesus).

Who do you follow? Who has the authority? Is it Yahushua or Paul? Answer :Yahushua, and Paul a follower of him,  does not pervert his words either so stop perverting Paul's words.

If you do  YOU ARE THE LIAR AND BLASPHEMER

1Jn 2:4  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Jn 2:5  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of Elohim perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1Jn 2:6  He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN

Now for the final nail in the coffin for those who suport the idea that the  religion in the renewed covenant consists of chief sinners continuing in their evil and that Paul was promoting such a thing, read on!

Paul in this very portion of his letter mentions two men who are  in fact promoting  such an evil idea! Is Paul agreeing with them or handing them over to Satan?

1Ti 1:19  Holding moral conviction/ emunah (pw faith), and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning moral conviction / emunah (pw faith) have made shipwreck:
1Ti 1:20  Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

I shall leave you with further full details of Hymenaeus and Co. I have used a reference from Wikipedia. The  write up shall suffice and I do not need to repeat what has been extensively covered here except to say I have not corrected their use of the pagan words and names eg "Christ" , "God" , "faith" "Christian" "LORD" etc... (See Sunday Worship Terms ). I also inserted the  actual verse of Acts 13: 11 referred to.

In 1 Timothy 1:20, Hymenaeus is included in the "some" who had put away faith and a good conscience and who had made shipwreck concerning faith.[2] The apostle adds that he had delivered Hymenaeus and Alexander to Satan, that they might learn not to blaspheme. Some have viewed this statement as similar to 1 Corinthians 5:5, where Paul commands the church to expel a member engaging in sexual immorality, in the hopes that his spirit would eventually be saved as a result of this discipline.[3]

Denial of the resurrection
Hymenaeus and Philetus are included among persons whose profane and vain babblings will increase towards more ungodliness, and whose teaching "will spread as a cancer" (2 Timothy 2:17 NLT). The apostle declares that Hymenaeus and Philetus are examples of those just described, and he adds that those two persons "concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some." Then, for the guidance of Timothy, he goes on to say the seal upon the foundation of God is, "The LORD knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the LORD must turn away from evil" (2 Timothy 2:19 NLT).

The inference intended is, that though Hymenaeus and Philetus had professed their faith in Christ, they did not turn away from evil. There is no doubt in regard to the identity of this Hymenaeus with the person of the same name in 1 Timothy. Accordingly, the facts mentioned in the two epistles must be placed in the following order: That though Hymenaeus had,

made a public and Christian profession of faith in Christ, yet he had,
not turned away from evil, but by his profane teaching (see below),
went towards more ungodliness. This led to,
his abandoning his faith and a good conscience, thus he brought about,
the end result of his faith being shipwrecked.
The error, therefore, of Hymenaeus and his two companions would amount to this: They taught that "the resurrection is past already," circa 50AD–65AD, and that there would be no future resurrection, but that all that resurrection means is that the soul awakes from sin. This teaching of Hymenaeus had been so far successful: it had "overthrown the faith of some" (2 Timothy 2:18).

In another sense, the error is that there is no resurrection of the mortal body from the dead. What Hymenaeus may have been teaching is a current error among professing Christians today, that the resurrection is with an entirely different and spiritual immortal body, than we have on earth. And that new spiritual body is already 'resurrected' for us by god and received. They believe born again Christians are therefore raised up to sit in heavenly places [4] with their newly resurrected spiritual bodies. The conclusion is that the new man cannot spiritually die anymore, even if doing evil in the flesh. To wit, There is now no more condemnation for unrighteous, while doing unrighteousness. [5] The deliverance of Christ and grace is not from sinning with the flesh, but is only from judgment and condemnation for doing so. It, therefore, overthrows the faith by increased ungodliness, as though the new man has become 'untouchable' in heaven. There is no more need to abstain from fornication, so far as being accepted of the Lord. There is no need to keep the new man from filthiness of the flesh, because the new man is already forever resurrected from the dead: The resurrection is past. It is a kind of New Age Christianity, where the serpent's promise of being as immortal gods in heaven, has finally come to pass, because the resurrection is past.

Incipient Gnosticism
It is impossible to define exactly the full nature of this heresy, but from what Paul says regarding it, Hymenaeus and Philetus may have believed in an early form of the Christian heresy of Gnosticism. This awakening from Sin had taken place with themselves, so the Gnostics held, and therefore there could be no day in the future when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and shall come forth from the grave (John 5:28).

This spiritualizing of the resurrection sprang from the idea of the necessarily evil nature of all material substance. This idea immediately led to the conclusion of the essentially evil nature of the human body, and that if man is to rise to his true nature, he must rid himself of the thraldom, not of sin, but of the body. This contempt for the body led to the denial of the resurrection in its literal sense; and all that Christ had taught on the subject was explained only, in an allegorical sense, of the resurrection of the soul from sin.[6]

Delivered unto Satan
The way in which the apostle dealt with these teachers, Hymenaeus and his companions, was not merely in the renewed assertion of the truth which they denied, but also by passing sentence upon these teachers—"whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme." In regard to the meaning of this sentence much difficulty of interpretation exists. Some understand it to mean simple excommunication from the church. Others take it to signify the infliction of some bodily suffering or disease. It seems that a person who was delivered unto Satan was cut off from all Christian privileges, he was "put away" from the body of Christian believers, and handed over to "the Satan," the Evil One in his most distinct personality (1 Corinthians 5). Cf. the cases of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5), and of Elymas (Acts 13:11).

[ Answer to our question: Who is the blind man in the  image? : Act 13:11  And now, behold, the hand of Yahuah (pw the Lord) is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him [Elymas] a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand ]

The intention of the punishment was distinctly remedial. Both in the case of Hymenaeus and Alexander, and in that of the person dealt with in 1 Corinthians 5, the intention was the attaining of an ultimate good. In 1 Corinthians it is "for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." Similarly, Hymenaeus and Alexander are delivered unto Satan, not for their final perdition, but that they may be taught, through this terrible discipline, not to blaspheme.[7
