Filthy Rags or Righteous Fruit?
Let us have a look concerning the Torah of Yahuah. Important synonyms for Torah are "law", "mishpat" and "commands".The Written Torah of Yahuah has nothing to do with false religion which corrupts his Written Torah. It has nothing to do with Judaism and its Oral Torah invented by man which tries to corrupt and / make the Written Torah of Yahuah void. Judaism often causes confusion by calling their invented rules the Torah as if Yahuah has written them when they are not Torah and not written by Yahuah in his Word. This is nothing new and was what was happening with the scribes and Pharisees in Yehoshua's day trying to elevate their own traditions and laws above Torah.
But who is the Torah for in the first place?
From the beginning Yahuah has said who his Torah is for.
Exo
12:49 One law (Torah 8451) shall be to him that is homeborn, and
unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
Here we see the law is synonymous with the word "Torah" in the Hebrew translation according to Strong's Hebrew Concordance:
H8451
תֹּרָה תּוֹרָה tôrâh tôrâh
to-raw', to-raw' From H3384; a precept or statute, especially the
Decalogue or Pentateuch: - law. Total KJV occurrences: 219
We see that Yahuah makes it clear that His law or Torah is for both the Yahaudi ( pw Jew) and Gentile.
Lev 24:22 Ye
shall have one manner of law (Mishpat H941), as well for the stranger,
as for one of your own country: for I am YAHUAH your Eloheem.
Here we see that the law or Torah is synonymous with the other Hebrew word "mishpat". Note mishpat has nothing to do with Mishnah or Talmud later invented by Judaism which corrupts Yahuah's mishpat (law, Torah)
H4941 מִשְׁפָּט mishpâṭ mish-pawt' From
H8199; properly a verdict (favorable or unfavorable) pronounced
judicially, especially a sentence or formal decree (human or
(particularly) divine law, individual or collectively), including the
act, the place, the suit, the crime, and the penalty; abstractly
justice, including a particular right, or privilege (statutory or
customary), or even a style: - + adversary, ceremony, charge, X
crime, custom, desert, determination, discretion, disposing, due,
fashion, form, to be judged, judgment, just (-ice, -ly), (manner of)
law (-ful), manner, measure, (due) order, ordinance, right, sentence,
usest, X worthy, + wrong. Total KJV occurrences: 421
Again Yahuah makes it clear that the Torah must apply for both Yahudi and Gentile. There is no different law for Gentiles. But Christianity, Catholicism and Judaism for example falsely preach, to this day, that there is a different law for Gentiles.
Again Yahuah declares from the Pentateuch (Torah) itself that "sin" is transgression of the Torah not transgression of some other man-made law :
Num
15:16 One law (Torah 8451) and one manner shall be for you, and
for the stranger that sojourneth with you. Num 15:29 Ye shall
have one law (Torah 8451) for him that sinneth (transgresses the law*)
through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of
Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
So this time we get the clear definition of Sin for both Yahudim (pw Jews) and Gentiles which is carried forward to the Apostle's. Here Yahuchanon clearly confirms Yahuah's definition of "sin" involves his Torah not a man-made Torahless law.
1 Jn 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.
Note Apostle Yahuchanon (John) accepts the Torah is for all, both Yahudim and Gentiles hence he uses the word "whosoever".
Yahuah further adds that his Torah applies to men, women and children whether Yahudim or Gentile:
Deu 31:12 Gather
the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger
that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn,
and fear YAHUAH your Eloheem, and observe to do all the words of this
law (Torah):
By this stage we should have gotten Yahuah's message very clearly yet false religion remains stubborn and rejects Yahuah's Torah to this day.
We see that the Gentile Abram who became Abraham obeyed the Torah of Yahuah and was promised to become the father of many nations (Gentiles) who would obey Torah.
Gen 26:5 Because
that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my
statutes, and my laws (Torah 8451)
So we see that the Torah is mentioned in all five books of the Pentateuch to be Yahuah's law for all people both Gentile and Yahudim.
Yet Christianity for one declares that a Jesus/ J-zeus came along and abolished (fulfilled) the Torah and replaced it with some other law for Gentiles.
Is this what the Son of Eloheem, Yehoshua taught? Is this what Yehoshua the Anointed one of Yahuah commanded? Of course not, Yehoshua cannot contradict his Father.
Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law [TORAH] or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to FULLY PREACH (Greek: pleroo) them.
Mat 5:18 For truly, I say to you, until shamayim (pw heaven) and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law [TORAH]until all is accomplished.
Mat 5:19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven), but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of shamayim.
Mat 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven).
So we see that Yehoshua has come to preach Torah obedience and entrance into shamayim (pw heaven) requires obedience to the law which by definition is Yahuah's Torah for ALL people. Hence Yehoshua like Yahuchanon (John) uses the same word "whoever"
Mat 5:19 ...whoever does them and teaches them
will be called great in the kingdom of shamayim.
Christianity does not believe that entrance into shamayim requires righteousness they claim that our righteousness is filthy rags even after redemption. For more see: Filthy Rags or Righteous Fruit?
Yehoshua went out of his way to separate and expose false religion that corrupts Yahuah's Written Torah. Hence he made it clear that Torah is to be obeyed and false traditions which try to make it void or pervert it are to be avoided.
Mat 23:1 Then spake Yehoshua (pw
Jesus) to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe (TORAH), that observe and do; but do not ye after their works (TAKANOT): for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
